i whipped out my dead sexy suit for yet another edition of the ball, and checked the pockets for any year-old tickets which happen to find their way into these sorts of clothes.

there was no ticket, but there was a vanilla flavoured condom. win :D

this is the same one anneke pulled out of the bowl of condoms (yes, there were big bowls of free condoms) and put in my pocket while slyly telling me to "be careful" last year

fun times ahead :D

i was only going to say one thing, but since looking at the tv guide i have two things to say

the first and original is... i love beer

secondly,

Tonight on SBS

This documentary features Claire, who is expecting two babies from two wombs. Claire, 34, was born with two wombs and two vaginas. She was told by doctors that because her wombs are half-sized she might never be able to have children, but in October 2004 - against odds of one million to one - she conceived in both her wombs at once. This documentary follows Claire and her husband David through this risky and emotionally charged pregnancy. Claire is carrying a boy in one of her wombs and a girl in the other and has been told that she has a one in four chance of giving birth to her babies prematurely. She must live with the fear that she may lose one or both of them. Consultant obstetrician and multiple birth specialist Myles Taylor of Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital knows that Claire is one of only 70 women in world medical history known to have been pregnant in two wombs. He keeps a very careful watch on the pregnancy, scanning the babies at least every fortnight, and cares for Claire as she faces a series of crises, including a potentially life-threatening blood clot and worries about the growth of the girl's head. This documentary follows Claire's exceptional pregnancy, from 24 weeks to the birth of her babies and beyond

and just to make it into a nice round number three, and since avcon has just passed with much hilarity and diatribe

Rush ROCK!!!!!!

It's a Farewell to Things!

my my how time does fly
can't believe i've been on holidays for 4 weeks already, but i have been :-O looking forward to going back to uni this semester, looking forward to getting back to my humble abode. neuro and endocrine will be fun no doubt.

end of holidays is coming at just the right time too. late enough that i'm not wishing i had an extra couple of days, and soon enough that i'm not getting annoyed waiting around for the time to come. i envisage things will change for the better every semester, but they generally don't, oh well. hopefurry i'll make the effort to learn to cook some new dishes

avcon this weekend, setup tomorrow. going to be a fun weekend. no doubt there will be some last minute hitches as there always are. matt is giving me the "work it out on the day!" line regarding tourneys... he's continuing the legacy left by gobbo in fine form. but as i said, will be fun, staff challenges will be a bit more exciting this year, something about me playing ping pong on the 360 against random chumps, who if they win go into the draw to win a copy of the game. oh those wacky ideas

hopefully i won't be flat out all weekend, but i imagine i might be :(

drank some good beers on tuesday night. played The Warriors on ps2. playing a mission where you're overdosing on flash, while being drunk is an interesting concept. luckily tom seems more than apt at such a mission while drinking more than enough cheap port (while $5 for 10 standard drinks of port is certainly a bargain, i draw the line somewhere, and generally that line is VB)

mmm. full day of Mitchell-con setup tomorrow. thank god i don't have to arrive at 8am

so.. Queensryche touring Australia.. i'd probably see them if i was in melbourne at the time, but as luck would have it, it's a week before i go back for 2nd semester :-(
i don't think they're worth making the trek over, especially when i have no money

in more interesting news, Ayreon is fucking pure bliss. this smelly eurotrash man is awesome, and not only because he had James LaBrie doing some of the vocals on his 2004 effort The Human Equation, not ONLY because by my count 4 of his 7 albums have linking storylines, but because they're pure pwnage

i've noticed an incredibly tight correllation between (1) me wearing a white shirt (2) me cooking pasta for dinner and (3) me spilling said pasta on said shirt

we need an "independent review" to sort this mystery out

as i said... i'm a sucker for a brit in tight leather

dragonforce were fucking awesome. extremely glad i went in the end, their set was tight, they were entertaining, and played to the crowd brilliantly. sadly the Hi-Fi Bar and Ballroom is a shithole, and thus the sound quality was somewhere between average and shit, but you can't win em all... my ears are still buzzing :(
black majesty were pretty respectable in the end, they had a decent sound about them and although much less professional, they were good for an opening act

most amusing thing about the night was all the t-shirts people wore... everywhere you looked there were Iron Maiden shirts... i think i spotted 2 DT shirts, which is decentish. apparently there's a store in the city that sells dt shirts, i shall have to visit it. i may also be able to get some t-shirts made in bali when maree goes... finally i can get my personal dream theater shirt of awesomeness, and also a cool rush shirt, amusingly enough the same one that Trevor wears in the most recent episode of trailer park boys... i thought the days of trailer park boys having Rush stuff were over :-D

everything is muted, i couldn't even watch house today without wearing headphones because i couldn't understand the dialogue. awesome double episode of house though, probably as good as the couple of episodes with his ex-wife and the 3 Stories one where you find out why he's a dang cripple.

demons in my head tell me to

excellent news this morning delivered via sms along with the coffee and crumpets lovingly prepared for me

as part of the federal budget announced last night, from next year my FEE-HELP loan limit has increased by a whopping $50,000, from ~$51,000 to a cool $100,000

this means no out of pocket expense for us for an extra 18 months or so.
and i'll be an extra $60,000 in the hole... but i can live with that. even if i will be paying like 30% more tax for about 15 years :\

the fantasies you're seeking, are the crosses you bear!

between the brilliant internet service MyFone provides and spending as much time as humanly possible with maree this week, the interwebs have been a distant memory.

things are going well for me now, maree is wonderful, uni has been coasting along well, but there's been something niggling away at me for a little while. things are too perfect, i don't remember the last time i came home and wanted to crawl into bed and never come out, certainly not since the cruise. while this is all well and good for me now, and things are great now, it's far from optimal. every time things change, i doubt they'll be the same, be as good as they were before, in particular socially. usually i'm wrong, but maybe i'm right this time. there're reasons why my heart races all day before i fly home, why everything seems nicer at home, why i'm always feeling my heart pull west (zing)

i think i should go see Dragonforce... they seem worthy enough of my $40, and i know i'll have a good night if i go

having maree over for dinner tomorrow night. hope it goes well :)
